Stop alt-tabbing to wikis. GameCopilot is a compact AI overlay that sits on top of your game. Ask a question — optionally with a screenshot — and a multimodal model searches current wikis and guides, answers in your language, and remembers everything in per-game memory.

What it does

• 💬 Chat above the game — overlay for windowed and borderless games: streamed answers you can stop mid-stream, markdown with tables and links, collapse-to-pill, two opacity levels.
• 🖼 One-click screenshots — capture the game window instantly, or paste any clipboard screenshot (PrtSc, Win+Shift+S). Ask "what's this item in my inventory?" — the model sees the frame.
• 🌐 Web search with sources — the model reads fresh wikis, guides, and patch notes; clickable source domains appear under every answer. Knowledge cutoff stops mattering.
• 🧠 Per-game RAG memory — your past chats, notes, progress journal, and game meta get mixed into new questions. A footer shows exactly what went into context, and every new chat opens with an index-status banner.
• 🧭 Progress journal & scanner — every few minutes the scanner grabs a frame and the model maintains a summary of your playthrough. The assistant remembers where you've been.
• 📝 Game notes — a markdown doc per game right under the chat, auto-saved and indexed for memory.
• 🔍 Search all history — instant full-text search plus a semantic mode: "how to kill the first boss" finds the right conversation even without the word "boss".
• 📚 Games library & meta — the model researches each game online and builds its meta: genre, current patch, notable changes.
• 🌍 Built-in mini-browser — open links from answers without alt-tabbing out of the game.
• ⌨️ Global hotkeys & tray — show/hide the widget with every window it opened (Ctrl+-), toggle opacity (Ctrl+=), collapse chat (Ctrl+0) — all while the game keeps focus.
• ✍️ Editable prompts — every prompt is a plain text file. A custom style is one Notepad edit: "answer like a strict esports coach".
• 🔐 Your data stays yours — chats, notes, and indexes live in a local SQLite database; your API key is stored only in Windows Credential Manager. No accounts, no cloud storage.

How it works

Question (+ optional screenshot) → a multimodal model via OpenRouter with live web search → streamed answer with sources → everything is saved and indexed locally → memory feeds your next questions.

What you need

• Windows 10/11, game in windowed or borderless mode
• An OpenRouter API key (openrouter.ai) and any multimodal model, e.g. google/gemini-2.5-flash. A typical question costs a fraction of a cent — you pay OpenRouter directly, there is no subscription for GameCopilot itself.

What's in the download

A portable build: download, unzip, run GameCopilot.exe. No installer, no admin rights. First-run wizard walks you through the API key and model choice. Full reset = delete one folder in %APPDATA%.
